7 Self-Care Tips for Busy Boss Moms: Achieving Success as a Female Entrepreneur

November 03, 20253 min read

This blog post is a self-care guide for busy boss moms who have been successful in the corporate world, want to run their own business, and are also taking care of a family, whether married or single. Female entrepreneurs can achieve success while balancing work with family life.

As a working mom, self-care is often the last thing on your mind. Working full-time in an office job, then coming home to handle family needs, and still working on your business, can be exhausting. I have found that when you are selfless with yourself, it does not come back around as selflessness. That is why taking care of yourself is essential.

Here are 7 self-care tips for busy boss moms who want to succeed as female entrepreneurs.

1. Prioritize Self-Care

Make time for yourself, whether it is going to the spa or simply taking a moment to rest and relax in your bed before you get up with the kids again. The effort you put into prioritizing yourself will always be worth it.

2. Get Outside

Spend time outdoors as much as possible, even if that means only a 20-minute walk to clear your mind. I like to get up early in the morning, around 6 am, to do my devotion, then go for a one-hour walk while listening to uplifting podcast episodes or a sermon from TD Jakes or Kimberly Jones, also known as Real Talk Kim.

3. Get a Massage

Commit to getting a massage every other month to keep your body feeling good and relaxed. I recently had a spa day with a friend at the Sojo Spa Club. After weeks of working long hours on the computer, it felt amazing to be restored and refreshed.

4. Reduce or Eliminate Caffeine and Screen Time

Cutting back on caffeine can help your body stay balanced, but so can cutting back on screen time. Reduce time spent on social media during business hours if possible, and limit screen use before bedtime to improve rest and relaxation.

5. Schedule Self-Care into Your Routine

Set out specific times each week or each day when there are no distractions. Turn your work phone off and focus on quality time with yourself. When you schedule it, you make it a priority, and this time allows you to decompress so you do not lose yourself in the busyness of life.

6. Stay Active and Have Diverse Interests

Explore activities that bring you joy, such as reading, shooting hoops, playing board games, or working out. Doing things outside of work breaks up the monotony of daily routines and keeps your body and mind sharp.

7. Focus on Rest, Hydration, and Nutrition

Get enough sleep, drink lots of water, and eat healthy foods. We need these things for our brain and body just as much as we do for others. Your energy and strength come from how well you take care of yourself.

The Deeper Side of Self-Care

Take care of yourself in these ways because you deserve it. You cannot expect others to do that for you, especially if they don’t know what is best. The most important thing about self-care is self-love.

Start with gratitude journaling. Writing down what you are thankful for helps release negative feelings and stress, allowing you to focus on the blessings in your life. Gratitude shifts your mindset and allows you to appreciate each day.

As Christian women, we also know that God calls us to take care of our bodies and minds, which are His temple.

Scriptures to Reflect On

  • 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

  • Matthew 22:37 NKJV
Jesus said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind."

  • Romans 12:2 NKJV
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Take care of yourself as much—if not more so—than you take care of others.
