Who or What Inspired You to Become an Entrepreneur?

What inspired me to become an entrepreneur was when I had a heart attack in 2009. That experience made me realize that tomorrow is not promised—but thank God it was promised to me. Since it was, I decided to pursue anything and everything I had ever imagined.

The three things I pursued after my heart attack were:

  • Taekwondo (earned my yellow belt before realizing it wasn’t for me)

  • Learning to ride a motorcycle (decided instead that I was a better fit as a “sexy accessory” on the back of my husband’s Harley Davidson)

  • My desire to go into business full-time (and that passion never left)

I spent three years as a parallel-preneur before taking the leap of faith into full-time entrepreneurship. Today, I am passionate about preparing parallel-preneurs for full-time entrepreneurship by ensuring they:

  • Get clear on whom they serve and how they serve them

  • Get confident in their sales skills

  • Get consistent cash into their business so that God gets the glory

What Advice Would You Give to Women Starting Their Online Business?

Keep God first.

Know it will take longer than you think.

Start with a solid foundation. This means:

  • Getting clear on whom you serve and how you serve them (private or group coaching, digital products, etc.)

  • Knowing where to find them

  • Gaining confidence in your sales skills (sales copy, sales calls, overcoming objections)

If you are not confident in your selling skills, book a discovery session with me. I’ll have you selling in no time—and in a way that doesn’t feel sleazy, slimy, or gross. That way, you can get cash consistently.

What Is Your Why, and How Important Is It in Business?

My “why” is rooted in knowing that the sky is the limit when it comes to income and influence. With influence and income, you can create real change—not just for yourself but also for others.

My “why” is important because I know my wealth will answer prayers. When I get tired, I remember that I am called. Giving up would impact not only me but also everyone I am meant to serve.

What Lessons Did You Learn in the Beginning Stages of Starting Your Business?

Lesson 1: Don’t follow multiple coaches at one time. It only leads to confusion and indecision. This taught me to focus on the coach I hired and make quicker decisions.

Lesson 2: Decide how you want to build your business before hiring a coach. If not, you’ll hire someone only to realize later that you don’t want to be on social media 24/7 or run a membership. This has made me more selective and specific in my hiring of coaches.

Lesson 3: You have to ask for the sale. Perfectly curated content, a flashy website, or a well-written email won’t sell on their own. You must ask.

What Do You Want People to Remember About You?

I want people to remember that no matter what I was facing, I kept the faith. I didn’t let my circumstances steal my joy.

We will all face tests and trials, but how we walk through them makes the difference. Will you be the Christian who complains and asks, “Why me, Lord?” Or will you be the one who says, “Okay, Lord—we got this. How do you want me to bring you glory in this situation?”
